Wiper Arm: Service and Repair
Wiper Arm
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)
• Puller (T10369)
• Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.
• Remove the key.
Removing
- Pry out the caps - arrow - with a screwdriver.
- Remove the nuts - arrows -.
- Slide the arms of the (T10369/1) - 2 - under the wiper arm - 4 - as shown in the illustration.
The windshield wiper shaft can be damaged.
Always use the thrust piece - 3 - to loosen the windshield wiper arm.
- Turn the pressure bolt - 1 - for the (T10369/1) clockwise until the thrust piece - 3 - makes contact wit the wiper arm shaft. Turn the pressure bolt - 1 - for the (T10369/1) clockwise with a hex socket wrench until the windshield wiper arm - 4 - comes loose off the shaft.
- Remove the (T10369/1) and the windshield wiper arm.
Installing
Tighten the windshield wiper arm mounting nuts to the specification only after setting the windshield wiper blade park position.
- Deactivate the APP function. Refer to => [ Wiper Motor Control Module (J400), Deactivating Alternating Park Position ] Testing and Inspection.
- Turn on the ignition and then switch the windshield on and off so that the windshield wiper motor goes into its park position.
- Mount both wiper arms on the windshield wiper arm shafts and tighten the nuts - arrows - hand-tight.
- Adjust the windshield wiper arms. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
- Install the cover and the trim.
