Towing Recognition Control Module (J345) Output Diagnostic Test Mode

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Trailer Power Outlet Tester (VAS 5800)

• Power Outlet Tester (V.A.G 1537/A) *

• Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051B)

• The Towing Recognition Control Module detects the use of trailer based on a performance decrease of at least 5 W.

• Use the Power outlet tester (V.A.G 1537/A) or (VAS 5800) for testing.

* The (V.A.G 1537/A) becomes too warm after a few minutes of use and switches off automatically. After a cooling off phase, the (V.A.G 1537/A) functions normally again.

- Connect the (V.A.G 1537/A).

- Connect the (VAS 5051B).

- In the (VAS 5051B) , select the "Guided fault finding" operating mode.

- Using the "Go To" button, select "Functions/Component selection" and the following menu options in sequence:

• Body

• Body repair procedures

• 01 - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capable systems

• Towing sensor

• Functions

• Control Module for towing sensor - output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)
