Exhaust System, Installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)
• Exhaust system must be aligned when cold.
Perform the following:
- Loosen the threaded connection on the front clamping sleeve - 1 -.
- Arrow - points in direction of travel.
- Position the front clamping sleeve so that the dimension - a - for the marking on the pipe - 2 - is 5 mm.
- Tighten the front clamping sleeve hand-tight.
- Push the exhaust system as far forward until the dimension - a - on the outer retaining loop of the front muffler is 9 to 11 mm.
- Arrow - points in direction of travel.
- Tighten the front clamping sleeve to 23 Nm in this position.
Align the tail pipes
- Align the rear muffler.
• The distance - a - between the bumper cut-out and the tail pipes must be equal on the right and left sides.
• At the same time, the distance - b - from the bumper cut-out to the tailpipes must run parallel.
- To align tailpipes, loosen rear muffler mounts.
