Fluid - M/T: Service and Repair
Transmission Fluid, Checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
• Triple Square Socket Driver (3357)
or
• 17 mm Inner Hex Socket
For the correct transmission fluid specification, refer to the Parts Catalog.
- Remove the noise insulation.
- Remove the plug and check the transmission fluid level - arrow -.
The level is correct when the transmission fluid comes up to the bottom edge of fill hole.
- Tighten the plug - arrow - to specification.
Note the following when filling for the first time:
- Remove the plug - arrow -.
- Add transmission fluid until it reaches the lower edge of the fill hole.
- Install the plug - arrow -.
- Start the engine, engage a gear and let the transmission turn for approximately 2 minutes.
- Turn off the engine and remove the plug - arrow -.
- Add transmission fluid until it reaches the lower edge of the fill hole.
- Tighten the plug - arrow - to specification.
Different versions of the Fill and Drain Plugs
I - Oil fill or drain plug with a multipoint socket head, 25 Nm
II - Oil fill or drain plug with a hex socket head, 30 Nm
- Attach the noise insulation.
