Clutch Position Sensor
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Hose Clamps Up to 25 mm Dia. (3094)
Removing
- Determine whether a coded radio is installed. If so, obtain the anti-theft code.
- Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery ground cable.
- Remove the complete air filter housing if it located near the battery.
- Remove the battery and the battery tray.
If a hose/line assembly - 1 - with a round component is installed directly below the master cylinder, the hose/line assembly must be removed.
• Be careful not to get any brake fluid on the longitudinal member or on the transmission when performing the following work. If it does, clean the areas thoroughly.
- Clamp off the supply hose going to the master cylinder using the (3094).
- Disengage the clip - 2 - using a screwdriver or a pointed tool and pull the clip out from the master cylinder out until it stops.
- Disconnect the hose/line assembly - 1 - or plastic line from the master cylinder and seal it.
- Disconnect the connector - 4 -.
- Unclip the clutch position sensor (G476) from the master cylinder - arrow - and remove it.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
• Allocate all components via the Parts Catalog.
If the hose/line assembly was removed:
- Press the hose/line assembly - 1 - or plastic line into the master cylinder connection - 4 - with a new seal - 2 - until the clip - 3 - engages audibly.
- Pull on the hose/line assembly or plastic line to make sure it is secure.
- After removing the (3094) bring the return hose back to its original shape.
- Bleed the clutch system. Refer to => [ Clutch System, Bleeding ] Service and Repair.
- Install the battery tray and the battery.
- If removed, install the air filter housing.
- Connect the battery and follow the procedure regarding what to do after connecting a battery.
