Fuel System, Filling and Bleeding

Adapter for K-jetronic Test Device (V.A.G 1318/20)

Vehicle Diagnosis Tester

If the fuel supply system was opened, it must always be bled before starting the engine.

If the fuel supply system is not bled, the catalytic converter will be damaged.

Follow all safety precautions. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Safety Precautions.

Pay attention to the rules of cleanliness. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.

Fuel system is under pressure!

Always wear protective eyewear and protective clothing to prevent injuries and fuel from coming in contact with your skin.

Before loosening line connections, place a cloth around the connection point. Then release pressure by carefully disconnecting the line.

- Remove the cap - arrow - from the bleed valve.






- Turn the valve T-piece counterclockwise until it is completely open.






- Install the adapter (V.A.G 1318/20-1) onto adapter for K-jetronic test device (V.A.G 1318/20).

- Install the adapter for K-jetronic test device (V.A.G 1318/20) hand tight onto the bleed valve.

- Connect the hose from suction pump (VAS 5226) as shown.






- Turn the valve (at the T-piece) clockwise into the bleed valve until seated.

- Check the adapter and hose connection for leaks.

Connect the vehicle diagnostic tester as follows:

- Connect the diagnostic cable connector - 2 - to the Data Link Connector (DLC) in the driver's foot well.






- Press the following buttons on the display one after another:

OBD ->

Engine electronics ->

Output diagnostic test ->

- Keep pressing -> until the fuel pump relay activates. This activates the fuel pump. Let the diagnostic run until fuel without bubbles runs out of the bleed valve. Then end output diagnostic test mode.

If the output diagnostic test mode is interrupted, the engine must be started for a short time before the mode can be accessed again. Output diagnostic test mode is automatically cancelled after 60 seconds.

- Turn the valve at the T-piece counterclockwise until it is completely open again.






- Clamp off the hose from the suction pump (VAS 5226) (for example, using hose clamps up to 25 mm dia. (3094) ) and disconnect it from the adapter (V.A.G 1318/20-1).

- Remove the adapter for K-jetronic test device (V.A.G 1318/20) from the bleed valve.

- Install the cap - arrow - onto the bleed valve.
