Steering Angle Sensor (G85), Vehicles without Electromechanical Power Steering

Removing

The steering angle sensor (G85) must be in the center position when being removed.

The steering must be in the straight-ahead position

Mark the center position and secure it with tape.

Make sure that the centered position is maintained.

Fault diagnosis using vehicle diagnostic tester.

- Set the wheels to the straight ahead position.

- Turn off the ignition and remove the key.

- Remove the steering wheel airbag.

Before performing work on the electrical system and removing the steering wheel, the following conditions must be met:

Remove ground strap from the battery.

The wheels must be in the straight-ahead position.

The airbag system may not work properly if you do not follow these WARNINGS.

- Remove the steering column trim.

- Release and disconnect the connector - arrows - on the steering angle sensor.






- Remove the threaded connector - arrows - on the steering angle sensor - 1 -.






- Remove the steering angle sensor from the steering column.

Installing:

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

The steering angle sensor must be in the center position when being installed.

If a new steering angle sensor is being installed, remove the transportation protection after tightening it on the steering column.

- Install the steering angle sensor - 1 - and tighten the bolts - arrows - evenly.






Perform a basic setting after the steering angle sensor is installed.

Use the vehicle diagnostic tester.
