Lower Seat Frame Cover and Cushion
Vehicles with manual seat adjustment
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Pliers (3392)
• Engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095)
• Fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136)
• Upholstery clip pliers (V.A.G 1634)
• Removing and installing the components is described for the left seat. Removing and installing the components from the right seat is identical.
If the front seat cushion cover on front passenger side is replaced, then the passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor (G452) must always be replaced as well. Refer to => [ Passenger Occupant Detection System ] Service and Repair
Removing
- Attach the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) to the engine/transmission holder (VAS 6095).
- Remove the front seat.
- Secure the seat on the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).
- Remove front belt latch. Refer to => [ Front Belt Latch ] Front Belt Latch.
- Remove the right trim on the seat.
- Remove the trim pieces from the seat:
• Remove the right trim piece on a front passenger seat without height adjustment. Refer to => [ Right Front Passenger Seat without Height Adjustment Trim Piece ] Right Front Passenger Seat without Height Adjustment Trim Piece.
• Remove the left trim on the seat with manual height adjustment. Refer to => [ Left Seat Trim with Manual Height Adjustment ] Left Seat Trim with Manual Height Adjustment.
- Remove the bracket and the lever on the front seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat Bracket and Operating Lever ] Front Seat Bracket and Operating Lever.
- Remove the mount for the drawer (if equipped) on the front seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat Drawer with Bracket ] Front Seat Drawer with Bracket.
- Remove the front seat backrest.
- Loosen the retaining channel - 3 - from the seat frame - 2 -.
- Loosen the retaining channel - 4 - on all sides of the seat frame - 2 -.
- Loosen the wiring harnesses from the seat frame on vehicles with seat heating and passenger occupant detection system.
- Remove front seat cover and cushion - 1 - and the seat frame - 2 -.
- Fold up the outside of the cover - 1 - off the front seat cushion - 2 - in - direction of arrow -.
- Remove all the upholstery clips - 4 - on the cover - 1 - from the cushion mounts - 3 -.
- Remove the cover - 1 - from front seat cushion - 2 -.
Vehicles with Passenger Occupant Detection System and Seat Heating
The passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor (G452) - 3 -, the seat heating element - 2 - and the front seat cushion cover - 1 - must not be separated.
If one of the mentioned components is faulty, then all the components must be replaced.
• Make sure the passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor (G452) - 3 - is always attached above the seat heating element - 2 - when installing the individual components.
Installation
- Install the cushion - 2 - on the seat frame.
- Attach the cover - 1 - to the cushion - 2 - with new upholstery clips - 4 - at the shown locations - 3 - using the upholstery clip pliers (V.A.G 1634).
Further assembling is in reverse order of removal.
• Check all the fasteners for damage and replace if necessary.

Removing

- Remove the front seat.
- Secure the seat on the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Remove the right trim on the seat.

- Remove the front seat backrest.

- Remove all the upholstery clips - 4 - on the seat cover - 1 - from the cushion mounts - 3 -.
- Remove the cover - 1 - from front seat cushion - 2 -.
