Mount (VAS 6131/6-7)

Bit (T10099/1)

Separating

- Remove the right and left front mufflers.

- Remove the right and left catalytic converters.

- Remove the front driveshaft.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the bracket - A - for the catalytic converter. Remove the bolt - 1 - from the coolant pipes.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the plate - A -. Remove the coolant hose - B -.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - and the nut - 2 -.

- Disconnect the vacuum hoses - arrows -. Remove the coolant hoses - A - from the electro-drive drive motor and from the engine. Move the coolant hoses and pipes to the side.

- Disconnect the connector - 1 - and free up the ventilation hose - arrow -.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the transmission fluid pipes. Seal off any open lines and connections with suitable plugs.

- Free up the wiring harness for the transmission.

- Secure the hydraulic pipe for the clutch mechanism in its installed position using a cable tie.

- Remove the right front ground cable from the engine and then install the articulated joint support (VAS 6131/13-7) to the bolt hole.

- Install the articulated joint support (VAS 6131/13-7) to the scissor lift table and tighten the bolt to 20 Nm.

- Install the mounts (VAS 6131/6-7) to the scissor lift table as illustrated and support the transmission free of tension under the oil pan. The mounts with the long spindle are needed.

- Remove the bolts - 3 and 9 - and install the guide pins (T10441).

It is possible to remove the bolt - 9 - using the bit (T10099/1).

- Remove all the bolts from the electro-drive drive motor.

- Loosen the right and left clamping bolts on the scissor lift table (VAS 6131 A). Separate the electro-drive drive motor and transmission from the engine.

Be care not to bend the hydraulic pipe for the clutch release mechanism. If damaged, the pipe will have to be replaced.

Installing

Requirement:

Replace the needle bearings in the crankshaft.

The engine and the transmission with the electro-drive drive motor are assembled on the scissor lift table (VAS 6131 A) just as when they were separated.

The alignment sleeves are present inside the engine.

The hydraulic pipe for the clutch mechanism is secured in its installed position using cable ties.

- Lightly lubricate the splines on the input shaft with grease (N 052 530).

- Lightly lubricate the bolt - 1 - with grease (N 052 530).

- Install the guide pins (T10441) into the engine.

- Line up the electro-drive drive motor with the alignment pins. Make sure the input shaft is centered in front of the release bearing.

- Push the electro-drive drive motor onto the engine. It might be necessary to correct the installed position of the transmission.

- Secure the electro-drive drive motor to the engine evenly.
