Front Exhaust Pipe with Catalytic Converter, Left (Bank 2)
Removing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Jointed Socket, 12 mm (T40220)
Hybrid vehicles have a high voltage system! Danger of electrical shock! When performing the following work, it is also necessary to work on the high voltage system. Disable the voltage in the high voltage system.
- Remove the engine compartment cover. Refer to => [ Engine Compartment Cover ] Service and Repair.
- Unlock and disconnect the pilot line connector - 1 - from the electric drive power and control electronics. Unlock and disconnect the high voltage cables - 2, 3 and 4 - in sequence.
- Remove the power steering fluid reservoir and set it to the side. The hoses remain connected.
- Unclip the connector - A - and remove the bracket for the high voltage cables - arrows -. Move the high voltage cables and bracket to the side.
- Remove the oxygen sensor 2 after catalytic converter.
- Remove the front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter nuts - 2 - accessible from the top using the jointed socket, 12 mm (T40220).
- Remove the mounting for the catalytic converter and the coolant pipes - arrows -.
- Remove the noise insulation.
- Remove the left front muffler - A -.
- Remove the heat shield - 1 - from the universal joint - 2 -.
• Separate the universal joint from the steering gear only when the front wheels are in the straight ahead position.
• Do not change the steering wheel position and steering gear position any more, secure the steering wheel with adhesive tape.
- Remove the universal joint bolt - 1 - from the steering gear.
• Have a drip tray nearby to catch any leaking coolant.
- Remove the hoses from the coolant pipes - 2 -.
- Remove the coolant pipes from the transmission.
- Remove the front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter nuts - 1 and 3 - (accessible from the bottom).
- Push the universal joint and the coolant pipes to the side and remove the front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter downward.
Installing
• Front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter and front muffler tightening specifications. Refer to => [ Front Exhaust Pipe with Catalytic Converter Overview ] Front Exhaust Pipe with Catalytic Converter Overview.
• Steering column tightening specifications.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order while noting the following:
- During installation, all cable ties must be installed at the same location.
- Replace the seals, the self locking nuts and the clamping sleeves.
- Install the exhaust system free of stress, refer to => [ Exhaust System, Installing ] Service and Repair.
- Fill the coolant for the high temperature coolant circuit. Refer to => [ Filling ] Draining and Filling, High Temperature Coolant Circuit.
- Enable the high voltage system.
