Control Module HVAC: Service and Repair
A/C Display Control Head (E87) with Climatronic Control Module (J255)
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim Removal Wedge (3409)
• Hook (3438)
• Release Tool (T10315)
Removal
• If a new Climatronic A/C display control head with a Climatronic control module is installed, the replace control module function and a basic setting must be performed in the Guided Fault Finding or the Guided Functions.
Prior to working on electrical wires, disconnect the corresponding fuse/fuses.
- Unclip and remove trim - 2 - from Front A/C display control head - 1 - using the (3409) at the indicated locations - arrows -.
- Insert the (3438) in the area - arrow B - and hook behind Front A/C display control head - 1 -. Press frame - 2 - slightly downward in this process.
- Insert both (T10315) first into the slots on one side- arrows - (place some sort of protection over the center console) and gently push toward the outside to unlock the retainers.
- Use both tools to remove the Front A/C display control head - 1 -.
- Use the (3409) to press the retaining tabs inward as needed.
- Disconnect the harness connectors and remove the Front A/C display control head with the Climatronic control module (J255).
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order while noting the following:
• If a new Climatronic A/C display control head with a Climatronic control module is installed, the replace control module function and a basic setting must be performed in the Guided Fault Finding or the Guided Functions.
• When installing the Front A/C display control head, it must be ensured that pressure is not exerted on the surfaces of the temperature regulator and the display during insertion. Excessive pressure can result in damage to the Front A/C display control head.
- Engage the Front A/C display control head in the frame by pressing on the indicated locations - arrows -. Ensure that no pressure is exerted on display - 1 - and regulator - 2 -.
- Clip in the Front A/C display control head trim.
- After completing the repair, perform the following: basic setting, refer to => [ Checking and Adjusting Components ] Checking and Adjusting Components.
