DTC 1-1-2

1-1-2 FAULT IN ENGINE CONTROL MODULE




Trouble Code Conditions
If the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects a fault in memory circuits ROM/EPROM or RAM when the ignition is on, or if the ECM detects a fault in the knock control circuit during driving, Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 1-1-2 is set.

Substitute value(s)
Fault in memory circuit ROM/EPROM or RAM:
- No substitute value.

Fault in knock control unit:
- Ignition advance reduced for safety.
- Fuel trim inhibited (only in certain cases).

Fault source(s)
- Fault in ECM memory circuits ROM/EPROM or RAM.
- Fault in ECM knock control unit.

Fault symptom(s)
- None.

TEST PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT:

- The ECM must not be live while making or breaking connections to the connector/break-out box, otherwise the ECM may be damaged.
- Remove fuse 1 (11B/1) in central relay control unit during connection or disconnection.




STATUS REPORT
^ Permanent fault, memory error:
- Proceed to: PERMANENT FAULT, CHANGING ECM section below.

^ Intermittent fault, memory error:
- Proceed to: INTERMITTENT FAULT, ERASE DTC section below.

^ Permanent fault, knock control:
- Proceed to: PERMANENT FAULT, CHANGING ECM section below.

^ Intermittent fault, knock control:
- Proceed to: INTERMITTENT FAULT, ERASE DTC section below.




PERMANENT FAULT, CHANGING ECM
- Ignition off.
^ Test with new ECM.
^ Change ECM.




INTERMITTENT FAULT, ERASE DTC
- ECM registered a fault previously.
^ Ignition on.
^ Erase DTC.
