Checking the signal lead
- Ignition off.
Bridge item and item B on the hood contact connectors.
- Connect an ohmmeter between item FH and item 31.
The ohmmeter should read infinity.
If the reading is correct:
- Proceed to remove the bridge.
If the reading deviates:
There is a short to earth in the signal lead between the hood contact and the alarm relay base item FH.
- Rectify the fault or renew the lead.
Replace the alarm control module.
Replace the hood contact lead or connector.
- Remove the bridge.
- Connect an ohmmeter between item FH and item 31.
The ohmmeter should read infinity.
If the reading is correct:
- Proceed hood leads check.
If the reading deviates:
There is a short to earth in the signal lead between the hood contact and the alarm relay base item FH.
- Rectify the fault or renew the lead.
Replace the alarm control module.
Replace the hood contact lead or connector.
Hood contact leads check
- Check that neither male nor female contacts in the hood are deformed or corroded.
- Replace the contacts to the hood.
- Close the hood.
- Connect an ohmmeter between ground and the alarm relay base item FH.
The ohmmeter should read infinity when the hood is closed.
If the reading is correct:
- Proceed to Open the Hood.
If the reading deviates:
There is a fault on the hood contact.
- Renew the hood contact.
Replace the alarm control module.
- Open the hood.
- Connect an ohmmeter between ground and the alarm relay base item FH.
The ohmmeter should show approx. 0 ohms when the hood is open.
If the reading is correct:
There is most likely a fault in the alarm control module.
- Carry out fault tracing. Fault Tracing Alarm Wiring
If the reading deviates:
There is a fault in the hood contact.
- Renew the hood contact.
Replace the alarm control module.
