GLA-441

KA. DTC 441

Condition

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) GLA-441 is stored if the control module registers that the signal from the resistive wire is greater than 5 V for 10 seconds when the alarm system has been powered up or when the alarm has been activated or deactivated.

Substitute Value
None.

Possible Source
Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable.
Open-circuit in signal cable.
Open-circuit in the resistive wires in the rear side windows.

Fault Symptom(s)
When the ignition is switched on the indicator LED flashes at 4 Hz for 15 seconds.
Resistive wire glass sensor alarm function missing.

Start fault-tracing with KB.

KB1. Checking Signal From Resistive Wires In The Rear Windows

Ignition on.
Go into scrolling values.
Read off resistive wire status.
The value should be OK.
Is the reading OK?
Yes: Go to KB7.
No: Go to KB2.

KB2. Checking Connectors

Ignition on.
Check resistive wire and control module connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to WWA5 WW. Checking Wiring and Connections

Go into scrolling values.
Read off resistive wire status.
The value should be OK.
Is the reading OK?
Yes: Fault corrected
No: Go to KB3.

KB3. Checking Resistive Wires

Disconnect rear side window connectors
Connect an ohmmeter between resistive wire terminal 1 and terminal 2 for the relevant rear side window. The ohmmeter should read 7-9 ohm for each of the rear side windows. The ohmmeter should read < 10 ohm for each window.
Are these values OK?
Yes: Go to KB5.
No: Go to KB4.

KB4. Replacing Component

Replace window with the defective resistive wire according to replacing resistive wire in the rear windows.
Then continue with KB5.

KB5. Checking Cables

Check cables between:
Control module #A5 and resistive wire #1 in the left rear side window. Resistive wire #2 in the left rear side window and resistive wire #1 in the right rear side window. Resistive wire #2 in the right rear side window and #1 on the rear windshield in the tailgate. Rear windshield in the tailgate terminal 2 and ground for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to WWA4 and an open-circuit according to WWA2 WW. Checking Wiring and Connections Then continue with KB6.

KB6. Verification

Hint: After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied as follows:

Ignition off.
Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
Ignition on.
Go into scrolling values.
Read off resistive wire status.
The value should be OK.
Is the reading OK?
Yes: Fault corrected
No: Fault not found

KB7. Intermittent Fault

Checking Wiring and Connections Operation done
