Power Tailgate Motor Test

NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations, precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or servicing.

1. Open the tailgate and remove the left quarter pillar trim Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Pillar Areas.

2. Disconnect the 2P connector (A) from the power tailgate motor (B).





3. Close the tailgate manually.

4. Check the motor operation by connecting battery power to terminal No. 1 and ground to terminal No. 2. The motor should run (tailgate open).

NOTE: Be careful not to pinch your hands.

5. After opening the tailgate, connect battery power to terminal No. 2 and ground terminal No. 1. The motor should run (tailgate closed).

6. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, replace the drive unit assembly Service and Repair.
