Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Replacement

Removal

NOTE:

- Removal of the front passenger's weight sensors must be done according to Precautions and Procedures Service and Repair.
- The front passenger's weight sensors are part of the slide/up-down adjuster and must be replaced as an assembly.

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure Procedures, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

2. Remove the front passenger's seat Front Seat Removal/Installation.

3. Disconnect left seat track/slide motor connector from the power seat harness, then remove these items.

- front cover Front Seat Disassembly/Reassembly
- recline cover Front Seat Disassembly/Reassembly
- center cover Front Seat Disassembly/Reassembly
- outer height cover Front Seat Linkage Disassembly/Reassembly
- inner height cover Front Seat Linkage Disassembly/Reassembly
- protector
- seat belt buckle

4. Disconnect the ODS unit harness connectors (A) from the front passenger's weight sensors (B), then remove the mounting nuts (C) mounting bolts (D) and slide joint cable (E) from the front passenger's weight sensors.






5. Remove the mounting nuts (A), then remove the rear brackets (B) and anchorage brackets (C) from the front passenger's weight sensors (D).






6. Remove the protectors (E) from the from the front passenger's weight sensors.

Installation

NOTE: Be sure to install the harness wires so they are not pinched or interfering with other parts.

1. Place the anchorage brackets (A) and rear brackets (B) on the front passenger's weight sensors (C). Tighten the mounting nuts (D).






2. Install the protectors (E) to the front passenger's weight sensors.

3. Install the slide joint cable (A), then install and torque the new front passenger's weight sensors with mounting nuts (B) and new mounting bolts (C) under the seat cushion, then connect the ODS unit harness connectors (D) to the front passenger's weight sensors.






4. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

5. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure Procedures.

6. Clear any DTCs with the HDS.

7. Do the front passenger's weight sensor initialization Testing and Inspection.

8. Confirm proper SRS operation: Turn the ignition switch to ON (II); the SRS indicator should come ON for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
