Power Tailgate Sensor Test
NOTE: If the motor does not operate, do the power tailgate motor test Power Tailgate Motor Test.
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).
2. Remove the left quarter pillar trim.
3. Pull down the rear section of headliner Service and Repair.
4. Measure the voltage between power tailgate drive unit connector B (8P) terminal No. 8 and body ground.
- If there is no battery voltage, repair an open or high resistance in the wire. If the wire is OK, go to the control unit input test Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
- If there is battery voltage, go to step 5.
5. Measure the voltage between power tailgate drive unit connector B (8P) terminals No. 4 and No. 6, and between terminals No. 4 and No. 7 while the tailgate is opened or closed manually.
- If the voltage alternates between about 0 V and 5 V with an analog voltmeter, or is about 2.5 V indicated with a digital voltmeter, repair an open or high resistance in the wire. If the wire is OK, replace the power tailgate control unit Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
- If the voltage is not specified, replace the power tailgate sensor Service and Repair.
