Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) DTC Troubleshooting: 59

DTC 59:

F-CAN B Communication Error

1. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Are DTCs 59 and 60 indicated?

YES -

Go to DTC 60 troubleshooting 60.

NO -

Go to step 2.

2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

3. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

4. Press the MAIN switch ON.

5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 59 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 6.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.

6. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

7. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.

8. Disconnect these connectors:

- ACC unit 20P connector Service and Repair

- VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector Service and Repair

- Power control unit connector C (36P) Keyless Access System (Keyless Access Control Unit, Keyless Access Remote Slot Control Unit, Keyless Access Power Control Unit,

- PCM connector B (49P) Service and Repair

9. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

10. Measure the voltage between body ground and ACC unit 20P connector terminals No. 7 and No. 18 individually. There should be less than 0.2 V.





Is the voltage as specified?

YES -

Go to step 11.

NO -

Repair a short to power in the wire between the ACC unit and the branch of the F-CAN B line (F-CAN B H, F-CAN B L).

11. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

12. Check for continuity between body ground and ACC unit 20P connector terminals No. 7 and No. 18 individually.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to ground in the wire between the ACC unit and the branch of the F-CAN B line (F-CAN B H, F-CAN B L).

NO -

Go to step 13.

13. Check for continuity between ACC unit 20P connector terminals No. 7 and No. 18.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short in the wires between the ACC unit and the branch of the F-CAN B line (F-CAN B H, F-CAN B L).

NO -

Go to step 14.

14. Check for continuity between ACC unit 20P connector terminal No.7 and VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector terminal No.22, and between ACC unit 20P connector terminal No.18 and VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector terminal No.1.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Check for loose or poor connections. If OK, update the ACC unit Testing and Inspection, then recheck. If the ACC unit was already updated, replace the ACC unit Service and Repair.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the ACC unit and the branch of the F-CAN B line (F-CAN B H, F-CAN B L).
