NOTES:
- Always confirm proper coding of A/C control head -E87- (engine type dependant) before diagnosis and repairs.
- Check and erase DTC memory and perform basic setting after per- forming repairs.
- Refrigerant system, servicing refer to "A/C Refrigerant System, Overview, Service Information".
- All components marked with are actuated during Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM). Testing and Inspection

1 - Left instrument panel air outlet

2 - Side window defroster vent
3 - Outside temperature display -G106-*
- The determined outside temperature can be displayed in °C or in °F independent of the -E87- setting.

NOTE: If display is incorrect, test measured values of temperature sensor via VAG1551 Scan Tool function 08, Read Measuring Value Block. Testing and Inspection

4 - Center instrument panel air outlet

NOTES:
- The illumination of the display field and the operating button is via light emitting diode (LED), and can not be replaced.
- Always refer to parts information for correct control head versions.

- Depending on vehicle equipment and instantaneous vehicle speed, A/C clutch is cut-off when accelerating either by Engine control module (ECM) or Transmission control module refer to "Read Measuring Value Block (Function 08)". Testing and Inspection
16 - Control module for fresh air blower -J126-**

- Operates air flow flap and the fresh air/recirculating air flap
