Engine mounts, checking

The electro-hydraulic engine mounts with electrical activation prevent engine vibration to the body over the entire RPM range.

At idle the engine mounts are soft.

In driving mode the engine mounts are hard.

- Switch ignition on.
- Carry out output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) for left and right engine mounts, Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) (Function 03)

- Press -> button.

During activation of the engine mounts both solenoids valve must click audibly.

If the specified values are not obtained, carry out following checks:

Checking voltage supply for engine mounts

- Disconnect harness connector of particular solenoid valve.
- Connect VAG 1527 diode test lamp with test leads from VAG 1594 connector test kit on socket 1 of connector (B+) and engine Ground (GND).







- Activate starter for a few seconds. Engine can also start.

The diode test lamp must light up.

If the diode test lamp does not light up, carry out the following checks.

- Check fuse for engine mounts.

If the fuse is OK

- Check wiring connection from socket 1 via fuse to fuel pump relay for continuity.







Checking activation for engine mounts

- Disconnect harness connector of particular solenoid valve.

- Connect VAG 1527 diode test lamp with test leads from VAG 1594 connector test kit on socket 1 of connector (B+) and socket 2 of harness connector.







- Carry out output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) and activate particular engine mount, Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) (Function 03)

The diode test lamp must blink during activation of the engine mounts.

If the diode test lamp blinks continuously.

- Check wiring connection from socket 2 of particular connector of engine mount for short to Ground.







If diode test lamp does not blink.

Checking wiring connection
- Connect VAG 1598/31 test box to wiring harness for engine control module. DO NOT connect to engine control module itself, Connecting VAG 1598/31 Test Box
- Check wiring connection of particular connector of engine mount for open circuit and short circuit to B+.

Wiring resistance: max. 1.5 ohm

- Eliminate short or open circuit if necessary.

If there is no malfunction in the wiring:
- Replace particular engine mount.
- Display readiness, Readiness Code Reading . If DTC memory was erased generate readiness code, Readiness Code, Generating
