Mode 6: Check Test Results Of Components That Are Not Continuously Monitored
This diagnostic mode displays the test results of emission relevant components and systems which are not continuously monitored.

The values of the individual test results must reach the specified value or must be within the min.- and max.- limits.

Test - ID Components
01: Catalytic converter
02: Oxygen sensor monitoring
03: Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system
05: Tank ventilation system

Test-ID 01: Catalytic converter

Test requirements:
- No DTCs in DTC memory; check DTC memory, see "Mode 3: Check DTC memory". Diagnostic Mode 3: Check DTC Memory
- Coolant temperature at least 80 degrees C, see "Mode 1: Check measuring values"; "PID 05: Coolant temperature". Diagnostic Mode 1: Check Measured Values

Work procedure


CAUTION: To reduce the risk of accident during road tests, always observe safety precautions.


- Connect diagnostic tester. Diagnostic Tester, Connecting
- Perform a 15 minute road test in the highest gear or in the highest driving mode on a level driving surface.

The following operating conditions must be met during this road test:
- Engine speed 1800 to 2200 RPM, see "Mode 1: Check measuring values"; "PID 12: Engine rotations per minute". Diagnostic Mode 1: Check Measured Values
- Vehicle speed constant 90 km/h, see "Mode 1: Check measuring values"; "PID 13: Vehicle speed". Diagnostic Mode 1: Check Measured Values

- Let engine run at idle.
- In diagnostic function "33 - OBD", select "Mode 6: Check test results of components that are not continuously monitored".
- Select the "Test-ID 01: Catalytic converter".
- Check specified value at idle.

Bank 1 min: 8192.000
1) Control module internal calculated value

- End diagnosis and switch ignition off.

If the specified values are exceeded:
- Replace the front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter

Final procedures
After repair work, the following work steps must be performed in the mentioned sequence:
1 - Check DTC memory, see "Mode 3: Check DTC memory". Diagnostic Mode 3: Check DTC Memory
2 - If necessary, erase DTC memory, see "Mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data". Diagnostic Mode 4: Reset/Erase Diagnostic Data
3 - Generate readiness code. Readiness Code, Generating

- End diagnosis and switch ignition off.

Test-ID 03: Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system

Test requirements:
- No DTCs in DTC memory; check DTC memory, see "Mode 3: Check DTC memory". Diagnostic Mode 3: Check DTC Memory

Let vehicle cool off with the ignition switched off until the following conditions are met:
- Intake air temperature 10 to 50 degrees C, see "Mode 1: Check measuring values"; "PID 15: Intake air temperature". Diagnostic Mode 1: Check Measured Values
- Coolant temperature approximately Intake Air Temperature (10 to 50 degrees C), see "Mode 1: Check measuring values "; "PID 05: Coolant temperature". Diagnostic Mode 1: Check Measured Values

Work procedure
- Connect diagnostic tester. Diagnostic Tester, Connecting
- Start engine and let run at idle for at least 15 minutes.
- In diagnostic function "33 - OBD", select "Mode 6: Check test results of components that are not continuously monitored".
- Select the "Test-ID 03: Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system"
- Check specified values at idle.

Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system Specification1)
- Bank 1 min: 24,000
1) Control module internal calculated value

- End diagnosis and switch ignition off.

If the specified values are not reached:
- Check secondary air system for proper seal. Refer to "Emission Control Systems/Air Injection/Testing and Inspection" Testing and Inspection
- Check Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Pump Motor -V101-.

Final procedures
After repair work, the following work steps must be performed in the mentioned sequence:
1 - Check DTC memory, see "Mode 3: Check DTC memory". Diagnostic Mode 3: Check DTC Memory
2 - If necessary, erase DTC memory, see "Mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data". Diagnostic Mode 4: Reset/Erase Diagnostic Data
3 - Generate readiness code. Readiness Code, Generating
- End diagnosis and switch ignition off.

Test-ID 05: Tank ventilation system

Test requirements:
- No DTCs in DTC memory; check DTC memory, see "Mode 3: Check DTC memory". Diagnostic Mode 3: Check DTC Memory
- Coolant temperature 80 to 110 degrees C, see "Mode 1: Check measuring values "; "PID 05: Coolant temperature". Diagnostic Mode 1: Check Measured Values
- Throttle valve angle 12.0 to 16.0 %, see "Mode 1: Check measuring values"; "PID 17: Throttle valve position (absolute)". Diagnostic Mode 3: Check DTC Memory

Work procedure
- Connect diagnostic tester. Diagnostic Tester, Connecting
- Start engine and let run at idle for at least 15 minutes.
- In diagnostic function "33 - OBD", select "Mode 6: Check test results of components that are not continuously monitored".
- Select the "Test-ID 05: Tank ventilation system".
- Check specified values at idle.

Tank ventilation system Specification1)
Deviation of oxygen sensor control in direction "lean" min: 9830.000
Deviation of oxygen sensor control in direction "rich" min: 695,000
1) Control module internal calculated value

- End diagnosis and switch ignition off.

If the specified values are not reached:
- EVAP canister system, checking for proper seal. Testing and Inspection
- Check Leak Detection Pump (LDP) -V144-. Testing and Inspection

Final procedures
After repair work, the following work steps must be performed in the mentioned sequence:

Test-ID 09: Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor -G62-/coolant regulator

Test requirement:
- No DTCs in DTC memory; check DTC memory, see "Mode 3: Check DTC memory". Diagnostic Mode 3: Check DTC Memory

Work procedure

- Connect diagnostic tester. Diagnostic Tester, Connecting
- Perform a road test until a coolant temperature of 80 to 100 degrees C is reached "Mode 1: Check measuring values"; "PID 05: Coolant temperature". Diagnostic Mode 1: Check Measured Values
- Switch ignition off.
- Start engine at a coolant temperature of 80 to 90 degrees C and let it run at idle.
- Perform a 5 minute road test in the highest gear or in the highest driving mode on a level driving surface.

The following operating conditions must be met during this road test:

- Check Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor -G62-. Testing and Inspection
- Check coolant regulator.
