Combination Valve, Checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Hand Vacuum Pump (VAG1390)
Work procedure
• Vacuum lines and hose connections free of leaks.
• Vacuum lines not plugged.
- Pull rear engine cover off - arrows -.
- Remove solenoid valve retaining plate - arrows -.
- Lift up retaining plate and disconnect vacuum hose of combination valve to be checked from Y-piece.
- Connect Hand Vacuum Pump (VAG1390) to vacuum hose of combination valve to be checked.
- For vehicles with auxiliary heater, remove bolts - arrows - for exhaust pipe of parking heater/auxiliary heater on noise insulation.
- Loosen screws or quick-release fasteners - 1 - and - 2 - and remove front noise insulation.
- Remove quick-release fasteners - 3 - and remove rear noise insulation, if installed.
- Remove pressure hose - arrow - from Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump.
- Blow into pressure hose using light pressure (do not use pressurized air).
• Both combination valves must be closed, it must not be possible to blow through hose.
- Operate the hand vacuum pump.
• The relevant combination valve must open, it must be possible to blow through
If relevant combination valve does not open:
- Replace (AIR) combi-valve:
• Left valve. Refer to => [ Left Combination Valve ] Left Combination Valve.
• Right valve. Refer to => [ Right Combination Valve ] Right Combination Valve.
