Storage Compartment
Removing
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Remove the front seat:
• Standard seat and Sport seat (manual). Refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seat ] Manual Standard Front Seat.
• Standard seat, Sport seat (power) and Comfort seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seat ] Power Standard Front Seat.
• Super Sport seat. Refer to => [ Super Sport Front Seat ] Super Sport Front Seat.
- Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on the ] Front Seat, Installing on the Fixture For Seat Repair (VAS 6136).
- Open the storage compartment - 1 - and remove the bolts - 2 -.
- Release the tab - arrow - on the storage compartment - 2 - and remove the storage compartment downward from the sill side trim - 1 -.
- Push the storage compartment - 1 - in the direction of the - arrow - and disengage the retainer - lower arrow - from the upper seat frame - 2 -.
- Remove the storage compartment from the seat pan upper frame.
Installing
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
Installation is performed in the reverse of removal, but note the following:
• Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Connect the battery ground (GND) cable with the ignition turned on.
• If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
