Lift Gate Replacement (Rendezvous)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove liftgate trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Lift Gate (Aztek) (Trim Panel Replacement - Lift Gate (Aztek))Trim Panel Replacement - Lift Gate (Rendezvous) (Trim Panel Replacement - Lift Gate (Rendezvous)) .
2. Remove the liftgate window. Refer to Window Replacement - Lift Gate (Pontiac) (Window Replacement - Lift Gate (Pontiac))Window Replacement - Lift Gate (Buick) (Window Replacement - Lift Gate (Buick)) in Stationary Windows.
3. Remove the liftgate latch strikers. Refer to Latch Striker Replacement - Lift Gate (Aztek) (Latch Striker Replacement - Lift Gate (Aztek))Latch Striker Replacement - Lift Gate (Rendezvous) (Latch Striker Replacement - Lift Gate (Rendezvous)) .
4. Remove the liftgate bumper mounting brackets.
5. Disconnect the liftgate electrical connector.




6. Remove the liftgate struts. Refer to Strut Replacement - Lift Gate (Strut Replacement - Liftgate) .




7. Mark the location of the liftgate hinges to the liftgate with a grease pencil.
8. Remove the bolts from the liftgate hinges, with an assistant.
9. Remove the liftgate from the vehicle , with an assistant and place outside face down on a clean padded surface.



Installation Procedure





1. Position the liftgate hinges to the marked location points on the liftgate, with an assistant.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the bolts to the liftgate hinges, with an assistant.

Tighten the liftgate hinge bolts to 33 N.m (28 lb ft).





3. Install the liftgate struts. Refer to Strut Replacement - Lift Gate (Strut Replacement - Liftgate) .
4. Connect the liftgate electrical connector.
5. Install the liftgate latch strikers. Refer to Latch Striker Replacement - Lift Gate (Aztek) (Latch Striker Replacement - Lift Gate (Aztek))Latch Striker Replacement - Lift Gate (Rendezvous) (Latch Striker Replacement - Lift Gate (Rendezvous)) .
6. Install the liftgate bumper mounting brackets.
7. Install the liftgate window. Refer to Window Replacement - Lift Gate (Pontiac) (Window Replacement - Lift Gate (Pontiac))Window Replacement - Lift Gate (Buick) (Window Replacement - Lift Gate (Buick)) in Stationary Windows.
8. Install the upper and lower liftgate trim panels. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Lift Gate (Aztek) (Trim Panel Replacement - Lift Gate (Aztek))Trim Panel Replacement - Lift Gate (Rendezvous) (Trim Panel Replacement - Lift Gate (Rendezvous)) .
9. Adjust the liftgate as required. Refer to. Hinge Replacement - End Gate (Service and Repair)
