Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side (LLT)

Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Hot Exhaust System Warning (Hot Exhaust System Warning).

Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning (Safety Glasses Warning).


1. Remove the front exhaust pipe. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (V6) (Service and Repair)Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (V6) (Service and Repair)Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (L4) (Service and Repair).
2. Disconnect the right exhaust manifold heated oxygen sensor.
3. Remove the right exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement - Right Side (LLT) (Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement - Right Side).




4. Remove the right catalytic converter nuts (1) and seal (2) to the right exhaust manifold.




5. Remove the right exhaust manifold bolts (1) and gasket (2) from the cylinder head. Discard the old gasket.
6. If reusing the exhaust manifold, clean and inspect the exhaust manifold sealing surfaces. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Cleaning and Inspection - Right Side (86. Exhaust Manifold Cleaning and Inspection - Right Side).

Installation Procedure





Note: Inspect the catalytic converter seal/heat shield sealing surface. Replace the seal/heat shield if the sealing surface is worn or damaged.

1. Install a NEW exhaust manifold gasket (2) to the exhaust manifold.
2. Install the right exhaust manifold (3) with the gasket to the cylinder head.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

Note: Tighten the bolts starting at the center, alternating side-to-side, working outward.

Tighten
* First Pass: 10 Nm (7 lb ft).
* Final Pass: 22 Nm (16 lb ft).

3. Install the right exhaust manifold bolts (1).
4. Install the right manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement - Right Side (LLT) (Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement - Right Side).
5. Install the right manifold heated oxygen sensor. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 1 Sensor 1 (LF1) (Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 1 Sensor 1)Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 1 Sensor 1 (LLT) (Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 1 Sensor 1).




6. Install the right catalytic converter nuts (1) and tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
7. Install the front exhaust pipe. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (V6) (Service and Repair)Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (V6) (Service and Repair)Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (L4) (Service and Repair).
8. Connect the heated oxygen sensors.
9. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
