Compartment Lid Replacement - Rear

Removal Procedure

1. Open the rear compartment.
2. Remove the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Compartment Lid Trim Replacement - Rear (Compartment Lid Trim Replacement - Rear) .
3. Remove the license plate pocket. Refer to License Plate Pocket Replacement (VJ6) (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the lock actuator. Refer to Handle Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid Interior Release (Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the lock cylinder. Refer to Lock Cylinder Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Service and Repair) .
6. Unsnap the retainers securing the electrical harness conduit to the rear compartment lid.
7. Disengage the electrical harness from the rear compartment lid.





Caution: When a rear compartment lid hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

8. Remove the 2 bolts (3) at each hinge (4).
9. With an assistant, remove the lid assembly (1).



Installation Procedure

1. Install the lid lock actuator. Refer to Handle Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid Interior Release (Service and Repair) .
2. Install the rear compartment lock cylinder. Refer to Lock Cylinder Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Service and Repair) .




3. With an assistant, install the lid (1) to the hinges (4).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Install the 2 bolts (3) to each hinge (4).

Tighten the bolts to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

5. Snap the electrical harness onto the rear compartment lid (1).
6. Connect the electrical connectors to the lock actuator.
7. Secure the snap connectors to the electrical harness.
8. Install the license plate pocket. Refer to License Plate Pocket Replacement (VJ6) (Service and Repair) .
9. Install the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Compartment Lid Trim Replacement - Rear (Compartment Lid Trim Replacement - Rear) .
10. Close the rear compartment.
