Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution (SIR Caution) .
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution (Battery Disconnect Caution) .
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the console assembly. Refer to Console Replacement (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement (Radio Replacement) .
5. Remove the closeout/insulator panels. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side (Service and Repair) and to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair) .
6. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Service and Repair) .
7. Remove the I/P compartment trim bezel. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Trim Bezel Replacement (Service and Repair) .
8. Remove the knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement (Service and Repair) .
9. Remove the left knee bolster bracket. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement (Service and Repair) .
10. Remove the right and the left I/P trim panels. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair) and to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side (Service and Repair) .
11. Remove the right and the left hinge pillar trim. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement (Service and Repair) .
12. Remove the windshield side garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement (Service and Repair) .
13. Remove the right and the left I/P end caps. Pull outward to disengage the caps from the I/P.
14. Remove the I/P trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (Service and Repair) .
15. Remove the I/P cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Instrument Cluster Replacement) .
16. Remove the speakers from the I/P. Refer to Radio Front Speaker Replacement (Radio Front Speaker Replacement) .
17. Remove the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) and the YAW sensors from the I/P carrier.
18. Remove the global positioning system (GPS) antenna from the I/P carrier. Refer to Global Positioning System (GPS) Antenna Replacement (Global Positioning System (GPS) Antenna Replacement) .
19. Remove the remote control door lock receiver. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement (Service and Repair) .
20. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement (Steering Wheel Replacement) .




21. Remove the retaining bolts and nuts from the I/P carrier.




22. Remove the retaining bolts from the lower beam behind the I/P compartment door.




23. Remove the I/P compartment striker from the I/P carrier.
24. Remove the I/P carrier from the mounting and slowly route all of the wiring from the I/P carrier.
25. Remove the I/P carrier from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure

1. Position the I/P carrier to the lower and the upper I/P beams.
2. Route the I/P wiring harness.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

3. Install the retaining bolts and nuts to the I/P carrier.

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).





4. Install the I/P compartment striker.

Tighten the striker to 1.9 N.m (17 lb in).





5. Install the I/P retaining bolt at the lower beam behind the I/P compartment door.

Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

6. Install the steering wheel to the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement (Steering Wheel Replacement) .
7. Install the remote control door lock receiver. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement (Service and Repair) .
8. Install the GPS antenna to the I/P carrier. Refer to Global Positioning System (GPS) Antenna Replacement (Global Positioning System (GPS) Antenna Replacement) .
9. Install the SDM and the YAW sensors to the I/P carrier.
10. Install the speakers to the I/P. Refer to Radio Front Speaker Replacement (Radio Front Speaker Replacement) .
11. Install the I/P cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Instrument Cluster Replacement) .
12. Install the I/P trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (Service and Repair) .
13. Install the right and the left I/P end caps.
14. Install the windshield side garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement (Service and Repair) .
15. Install the right and the left hinge pillar trim. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement (Service and Repair) .
16. Install the right and the left I/P trim panels. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair) and to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side (Service and Repair) .
17. Install the left knee bolster bracket. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement (Service and Repair) .
18. Install the I/P compartment trim bezel. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Trim Bezel Replacement (Service and Repair) .
19. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Service and Repair) .
20. Install the closeout/insulator panels. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side (Service and Repair) and to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair) .
21. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement (Radio Replacement) .
22. Install the console assembly. Refer to Console Replacement (Service and Repair) .
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution (Battery Disconnect Caution) .
23. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution (SIR Caution) .
24. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
