Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The CD changer is supplied with battery voltage from the RADIO, S-BAND/VCIS fuse located in the body control module (BCM). The radio provides the CD changer with right and left low level audio signal circuits (+) and (-). The audio signal circuits are DC bias voltage circuits that are one half of the battery voltage. When using a DMM, each of the audio signal circuits will measure approximately 6.5V DC. Ground for the CD changer id provided at G104.

Vircuit/System Verification

Radio ON, verify the CD changer operates properly and audio can be heard from the speakers.

If the CD changer operates properly and audio is inoperative or distorted from one or all of the speakers, refer to Speaker Malfunction (Speaker Malfunction) .

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the CD changer.
2. Test for less than 10 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 1 and ground.

If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.

3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 16 and ground.

If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.

4. If all circuits test normal, replace the CD changer.
