Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The driver information center (DIC) switch is a multiplexed momentary contact switch that also functions as a DIC/Dimmer switch. Battery power is provided to the DIC switch via the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with the DIC switch signal circuits pulled up to battery voltage in the IPC. The IPC also provides the DIC switch with a ground. The switch input to the cluster is pulled low or grounded when a switch is activated. The IPC determines the switch pressed by monitoring the signal circuit voltage.

Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver information center (DIC) switch.
2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit terminal 7 and ground.
• If greater than 1 ohm, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition ON, verify that all scan tool DIC Switch parameters are Inactive.
• If any DIC switch parameter is not Inactive, test the appropriate switch signal circuit for a short to ground.
* DIC Information Down Switch Signal Circuit Terminal 3
* DIC Information Up Switch Signal Circuit Terminal 1
* DIC Options Switch Signal Circuit Terminal 5
* DIC Reset Switch Signal Terminal 6
• If the circuits test normal, replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC).
4. Ignition ON, install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the DIC switch signal circuits at the appropriate terminals and the ground circuit terminal 7. Verify that all scan tool DIC switch parameters are Active.
• If any DIC switch parameter is not Active, test the suspect signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit(s) tests normal, replace the IPC.
5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the DIC switch.
Repair Instructions
