Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The position sensor that sets this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is either attached to the seat directional motor drive cable or directly to the motor it monitors. It receives a 5-volt reference and low reference from the memory seat module (MSM). The sensor sends a voltage signal that varies with the movement of the seat through the signal circuit to the MSM. Then based on this voltage signal, the MSM determines the position of the seat.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* DTC B1327 must not be present.
* Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
If the MSM detects the analog input from this sensor is less than 0.25 volts or greater than 4.75 volts, the sensor will be considered out of range and the MSM will set this DTC.
Actions Taken When the DTC Sets
The motor associated with the fault will be disabled for memory functions.
Conditions for Clearing the DTCs
* The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
* A history DTC will clear once 50 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles have occurred.
Diagnostic Aids
* The memory seat module is also referred to as the Driver Position Module in certain scan tool menus.
* All position sensors use common 5-volt reference and low reference circuits.
* If the 5-volt reference circuit is shorted to ground or voltage multiple codes will set.
* If the sensor low reference circuit is open multiple codes will set.

Circuit/System Verification
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Driver Position Module driver seat position sensor parameters. The readings should be between 0.25 volts and 4.75 volts and change while adjusting seat positions.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate seat position sensor.
2. Test for less than 5 ohms between the appropriate low reference circuit listed below and ground:
* Seat front vertical sensor terminal A
* Seat rear vertical sensor terminal A
* Seat horizontal sensor terminal C
* Seat recline sensor terminal D
• If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
3. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 volts between the appropriate 5-volt reference circuit listed below and ground:
* Seat front vertical sensor terminal C
* Seat rear vertical sensor terminal C
* Seat horizontal sensor terminal A
* Seat recline sensor terminal A
• If less than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
• If greater than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
4. Verify the appropriate scan tool driver seat sensor parameter listed below is less than 1 volt.
* Driver Seat Front Vertical Sensor
* Driver Seat Rear Vertical Sensor
* Driver Seat Horizontal Sensor
* Driver Seat Recline Sensor
• If greater than the specified range, test the appropriate signal circuit listed below for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
* Seat front vertical sensor terminal B
* Seat rear vertical sensor terminal B
* Seat horizontal sensor terminal B
* Seat recline sensor terminal C
5. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the appropriate signal circuit and 5-volt reference circuit listed below:
* Seat front vertical sensor terminal B and terminal C
* Seat rear vertical sensor terminal B and terminal C
* Seat horizontal sensor terminal B and terminal A
* Seat recline sensor terminal C and terminal A
6. Verify the appropriate scan tool driver seat sensor parameter listed below is greater than 4.75 volts.
* Driver Seat Front Vertical Sensor
* Driver Seat Rear Vertical Sensor
* Driver Seat Horizontal Sensor
* Driver Seat Recline Sensor
• If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
7. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the seat position sensor.
Repair Instructions
