Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The Suspension Control Module commands variable levels of pulse width modulated current to each damper in response to rough road, or abrupt steering maneuver driving conditions. The Suspension Control Module continuously compares each dampers command state with the state of their feedback circuits to ensure they agree.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* Battery voltage is between 9-16 volts.

* Ignition ON for 30 seconds

Conditions for Setting the DTC

C0575 01, C0580 01, C0585 01, and C0590 01

* A short to voltage on the control high circuit is detected.

* A short to voltage on the control low circuit is detected.

C0575 02, C0580 02, C0585 02, and C0590 02

* A short to ground on the control high circuit is detected.

* A short to ground on the control low circuit is detected.

C0575 04, C0580 04, C0585 04, and C0590 04

An open circuit on the control high or control low circuit is detected.

C0575 1A, C0580 1A, C0585 1A, and C0590 1A

An erratic current on the actuator circuit is detected.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* The Instrument Cluster displays the SERVICE SUSPENSION SYSTEM message.

* If the DTC symptom 01 is stored, the ESC system is disabled.

* If the DTC symptom 02 or 04 is stored, the suspect damper is disabled.

* The electronic suspension control is disabled for the duration of the ignition cycle.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* A current DTC will clear on the next consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycle.

* A history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles.

Diagnostic Aids

Visually inspect the dampers and their mountings for any physical damage.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition On

2. Verify the suspension stiffness changes while jouncing the vehicle and commanding the appropriate Damper Actuator ON and OFF with the scan tool.

If the suspension stiffness does not change

1. Refer to Circuit/System Testing

If the suspension stiffness changes

3. All OK

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, all vehicle systems OFF. Disconnect the harness connector at the affected Q37 Shock Absorber Actuator. It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down.

2. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 1 and the control circuit terminal 2.

3. Verify the test lamp turns ON when commanding the appropriate Damper Actuator from Maximum to Minimum with the scan tool.

If the test lamp remains OFF during either of the commands

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K19 Suspension Control Module.

2. Test for infinite resistance between each control circuit and ground.

If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.

If infinite resistance, replace the K19 Suspension Control Module.

If the test lamp turns ON for each command

4. Test or replace the Q37 Shock Absorber Actuator.
