Removal
REMOVAL
NOTE: To protect the vehicle finish, apply several layers of masking tape on the top edges of the liftgate and around the liftgate opening prior to loosening the hinges.
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Using a grease pencil or equivalent, mark the installed position of each liftgate hinge (4) in relationship to the liftgate (3).
3. If equipped, disconnect the power liftgate motor link rod from the liftgate pivotRemoval.
4. Remove the upper liftgate trim panelLiftgate Trim Panel - Removal.
5. Remove the rear header trim panelRemoval.
6. Disconnect the liftgate wire harness connectors (2) from the body wire harness.
7. Disengage the wire harness grommet (9) from the liftgate and carefully pull the body wire harness out of the liftgate.
8. Disconnect the rear wiper washer hose (8) at the connector (7).
9. Disengage the grommet for the rear wiper washer hose from the rear header panel (6) and route the hose out of the header panel.
10. Support the liftgate with a suitable lifting device in the full open position.
11. Disconnect the liftgate support cylinders (5) from the liftgate pivotsRemoval.
12. With assistance, remove the two bolts (1) that secure each liftgate hinge to the liftgate and carefully remove the liftgate.
