Left Cylinder Head

LEFT CYLINDER HEAD





1. Install the exhaust manifold studs into the cylinder head.
2. Torque the exhaust manifold studs to 6 Nm (53 in. lbs.)
3. Install the exhaust manifold on the cylinder head.
4. torque the exhaust manifold nuts to 16 Nm (141 in.lbs.).




5. Clean all carbon, oil and debris from the cylinder head gasket (6) sealing surfaces.
6. Install a new cylinder head gasket (6).
7. Install the cylinder head (4).




8. Install the cylinder head to timing case bolts and tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) and then an additional 90 degrees.
9. Install the remaining cylinder head bolts and use a spiral pattern to tighten in five stages:
a. Stage 1 - 20 Nm (177 in. lbs.)
b. Stage 2 - 40 Nm (354 in. lbs.)
c. Stage 3 - 40 Nm (354 in. lbs)
d. Stage 4 - 90 degrees
e. Stage 5 - 90 degrees
10. Install the timing chain slide rail.
11. Install the timing chain slide rail pins into the cylinder head.




12. Install the exhaust camshaft.
13. Install the intake camshaft.
14. Install the exhaust camshaft clamps.
15. Install the intake camshaft clamps.




16. Position the timing chain on the camshaft adjuster.
17. Install the variable camshaft gears on the camshafts.Service and Repair




18. Install the left cylinder head cover.Cylinder Head Cover - Installation




19. Install the left upper front cover.Cylinder Head Cover - Installation
20. Install the left head camshaft position sensors.
21. Connect the left head camshaft position sensors.
22. Install the right head camshaft position sensors.
23. Connect the right head camshaft position sensors.




24. Remove the air injection pump and bracket.
25. Remove the air injection adapter bolts.
26. Install the air injection valve.
27. Install the air injection valve bolts.
28. Install the hoses to the air injection pump.




29. Install the oil cooler housing.
30. Install the oil cooler housing bolts and torque to 25 Nm (144 in. lbs)




31. Install the accessory drive tensioner pulley and torque the bolts to 35 Nm (309 ft. lbs.)
32. Install the upper idler pulleys (2).




33. Install the intake manifold assembly.Intake Manifold - Removal




34. Install the three ignition coils into the left cylinder head.
35. Install the ignition coil bolts for the three coils in the left cylinder head and torque to 9 Nm (80 lbs. in.).
36. Connect the three ignition coils (2) in the left cylinder head.
37. Position the engine harness.
38. Install the engine harness bolts and torque to 8 Nm (71 in. lbs.).




39. Install the transmission dipstick (2).
40. Install the transmission dipstick bolts.




41. Install the right PCM bracket.
42. Install the left PCM bracket.
43. Install the PCM.
44. Connect the PCM.




45. Connect the fuel line.




46. Install the fuel rail and fuel injectors.Fuel Injector - Installation
47. Connect all 6 fuel injectors.




48. Install the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator.
49. Install the intake air housing support.
50. Connect the remote battery positive terminal connection.
51. Connect the canister purge line to the engine.




52. Install the fan shroud assembly.
53. Install the fan assembly.
54. Remove the upper radiator hose at the engine.
55. Install the lower sound shield.
56. Install the accessory drive belt.
57. Lower the hoist.

59. Install the right side catalytic converter Catalytic Converter - Installation.
60. Fill the oil.Maintenance
61. Fill the coolant.Service and Repair
62. Connect the battery.Battery Cables - Removal
63. Install the intake air housing.
