Parts Replacement Procedures

The various major assemblies in the air bag system have been designed to be tamper-resistant and are not to be disassembled for service. Component assemblies may be removed and replaced as required.

If a component has been replaced with a replacement part and the original concern still exists, the vehicle's original component should be re-installed and the system diagnosed for other concerns.

When replacing an air bag module, a prepaid return postcard is provided with the replacement air bag module. The serial number for the new part and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be recorded and sent to Ford Motor Company.
