DTC C0197 00
- Lateral Accelerometer Circuit Range

Circuit/System Description

The lateral accelerometer and the yaw rate sensors are combined into one sensor external to the electronic brake control module (EBCM). The vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) uses the lateral accelerometer input when calculating the desired yaw rate. The usable output signal is a serial data CAN circuits.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The ignition switch is in the ON position.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* The yaw/lateral combination sensor reports an internal failure.
* If a calculated offset at the yaw/lateral combination sensor signal is out of the specified range.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

One or more of the following actions may occur:

* VSES is disabled.
* A DIC message and/or a warning indicator may be displayed.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The condition for the DTC is no longer present.
* The EBCM automatically clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 50 consecutive drive cycles.

Diagnostic Aids

Possible causes of this DTC are as follows:

* Incorrectly mounted/loose yaw/lateral accelerometer sensor
* Internal failure in the yaw/lateral accelerometer sensor

Circuit/System Testing

1. Verify DTC C0196 is not set.

If the DTC is set, refer to DTC C0196 C0196.

2. Replace the Yaw/Lateral Accelerometer sensor
