P1556, P1557 BATTERY TEMPERATURE SENSOR
DTC Logic
DTC DETECTION LOGIC
NOTE:
If DTC P1556 or P1557 is displayed with DTC P0643, first perform the trouble diagnosis for DTC P0643.
Refer to "DTC Logic" For USA and Canada.
DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
1. PRECONDITIONING
1.Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
2.Turn ignition switch ON.
3.Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
TESTING CONDITION:
Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is 10 V or more at idle.
- GO TO 2.
2. PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
1.Start the engine and let it idle at least 10 seconds.
2.Check 1st trip DTC.
Is 1st trip DTC detected?
YES- Proceed to "Diagnosis Procedure" .
NO- INSPECTION END
Diagnosis Procedure
1. CHECK BATTERY TEMPERATURE SENSOR INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT-I
1.Disconnect battery current sensor harness connector.
2.Turn ignition switch ON.
3.Check the voltage between battery current sensor harness connector and ground.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES- GO TO 7.
NO- GO TO 2.
2. CHECK BATTERY TEMPERATURE SENSOR INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT-II
1.Turn ignition switch ON.
2.Disconnect ECM harness connector.
3.Check the continuity between battery current sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES- GO TO 3.
NO- Repair open circuit.
3. CHECK SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
Check harness for short to power and short to ground, between the following terminals.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES- GO TO 4.
NO- Repair short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
4. CHECK COMPONENTS
Check the following.
- Camshaft position sensor (bank 1) (Refer to "Component Inspection (Camshaft Position Sensor)" For USA and Canada.)
- CKP sensor (Refer to "Component Inspection (Crankshaft Position Sensor)" For USA and Canada.)
- Battery current sensor (Refer to "Component Inspection (Battery Current Sensor)" For USA and Canada.)
- Refrigerant pressure sensor (Refer to "Diagnosis Procedure" For USA and Canada.)
- EVAP control system pressure sensor (Refer to "Component Inspection (EVAP Control System Pressure Sensor)" P0451.)
Is the inspection result normal?
YES- GO TO 5.
NO- Replace malfunctioning component.
5. CHECK APP SENSOR
Refer to "Component Inspection (Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor)" For USA and Canada.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES- GO TO 9.
NO- GO TO 6.
6. REPLACE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY
Replace accelerator pedal assembly.
- INSPECTION END
7. CHECK BATTERY TEMPERATURE SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
1.Turn ignition switch OFF.
2.Disconnect ECM harness connector.
3.Check the continuity between battery current sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.
4.Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES- GO TO 8.
NO- Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
8. CHECK BATTERY TEMPERATURE SENSOR
Refer to "Component Inspection (Battery Temperature Sensor)" .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES- GO TO 9.
NO- Replace battery negative cable assembly.
9. CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to "Intermittent Incident" Intermittent Incident.
- INSPECTION END
Component Inspection (Battery Temperature Sensor)
1. CHECK BATTERY TEMPERATURE SENSOR
1.Turn ignition switch OFF.
2.Disconnect battery current sensor.
3.Check the resistance between battery current sensor connector terminals.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES- INSPECTION END
NO- Replace battery negative cable assembly.
