SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: SPIRAL CABLE: INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Align the pins on the spiral cable with the installation holes on the steering sensor.
(b) Attach the 6 claws and install the spiral cable to the steering sensor.
(c) Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.
(d) Set the turn signal switch to the neutral position.
CAUTION:
If it is not in the neutral position, the pin of the turn signal switch may be snapped.





(e) Attach the 3 claws and install the spiral cable with steering sensor.
CAUTION:
When replacing the spiral cable with a new one, remove the lock pin before installing the steering wheel assembly.

(f) Connect the connectors to the spiral cable with steering angle sensor.
NOTICE:
When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

2. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/o Driver Monitor Camera) Installation
3. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/ Driver Monitor Camera) Installation
4. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Check that the power switch is OFF.
(b) Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.





(c) Rotate the spiral cable with steering angle sensor counterclockwise slowly by hand until it feels firm.
CAUTION:
Do not turn the spiral cable with steering angle sensor by the airbag wire harness.





(d) Rotate the spiral cable with steering sensor clockwise approximately 2.5 turns to align the marks.
CAUTION:
Do not turn the spiral cable with spiral sensor by the airbag wire harness.
HINT: The spiral cable with steering sensor will rotate approximately 2.5 turns to both the left and right from the center.

5. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Installation
6. INSTALL STEERING PAD Installation
7. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER Installation
8. INSTALL SWITCH AND VOLUME CASE Installation
9. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

10. INSTALL BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH Installation
11. INSTALL DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD LH (w/o Spare Tire) Installation
12. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation
13. INSPECT STEERING PAD Installation
14. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
(a) Check the SRS warning light Steering Pad.
