Removal





INSTRUMENT PANEL: INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD: REMOVAL

1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT

HINT
All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet code in the table below.





2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

3. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD LH (w/o Spare Tire) Removal

4. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH Removal

5. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

(a) Disable the AUTO TILT AWAY function by changing the customize parameter Repair Instruction - Customize Parameters.

NOTICE:
Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the AUTO TILT AWAY function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation.

HINT
Performing the above operation causes the AUTO TILT AWAY function to be disabled when the power switch is turned OFF.

(b) Turn the power switch ON (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column.

(c) Turn the power switch OFF and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTICE:
* w/ Navigation System (for HDD):
After the power switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal:





* When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is) reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

6. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

(a) w/o Rear Seat Entertainment System:

Remove the console box assembly Removal.

(b) w/ Rear Seat Entertainment System:

Remove the console box assembly Removal.

7. REMOVE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the headlight dimmer switch assembly Removal.

8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH





(a) Detach the 6 clips and remove the instrument side panel.

9. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOULDING





(a) Detach the 2 clips and remove the No. 1 instrument cluster moulding.

10. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the claw.





HINT
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

(b) Remove the hole cover.

(c) Remove the 2 screws.





(d) Detach the 5 clips and claw.

(e) Disconnect the connectors and remove the No. 1 instrument panel safety pad.

11. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 clips.





(b) Place protective tape as shown in the illustration.





(c) With your thumb on the instrument panel, pull the finish panel towards the rear of the vehicle with your other fingers to detach the clip on the right side.

NOTICE:
Pulling with excessive force will cause damage to the surface of the instrument panel safety pad.

(d) With your thumb on the instrument panel, pull the finish panel towards the rear of the vehicle with your other fingers to detach the clip on the left side.





NOTICE:
Pulling with excessive force will cause damage to the surface of the instrument panel safety pad.

(e) Hold the back of the finish panel with your right hand, and disconnect the light control rheostat connector with your left hand.





(f) Hold the back of the finish panel with your right hand. Then disconnect the trip switch connector and remove the finish panel with your left hand.





12. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 4 screws.

(b) Disconnect the connector and remove the combination meter.

13. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 2 screws.

(b) Detach the 2 claws.

(c) Disconnect the connectors and detach the clamp and remove the No. 1 instrument panel under cover.

14. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal

15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH





(a) Detach the 6 clips and remove the instrument side panel.

16. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOULDING





(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 5 clips and remove the No. 2 instrument cluster moulding.

17. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Detach the 4 claws.

(b) Disconnect the connectors and remove the No. 2 instrument panel under cove.

18. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL Removal

19. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal

20. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 5 screws.

(b) Disconnect the connector and detach the clamp and remove the glove compartment door.

21. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY Removal

22. REMOVE DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY Removal

23. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY

(a) Place protective tape as shown in the illustration.





(b) Disconnect the connector.

(c) Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 lower claws.

(d) Detach the 2 upper claws and remove the No. 1instrument panel register.





24. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY

(a) Place protective tape as shown in the illustration.





(b) Disconnect the connector.

(c) Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 lower claws.

(d) Detach the 2 upper claws and remove the No. 2 instrument panel register.





25. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH Removal

26. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH Removal

27. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

28. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for LH Side) Removal

29. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

30. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) Removal

31. REMOVE NO. 1 SPEAKER HOLE COVER Removal

32. REMOVE FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY Removal

33. REMOVE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) Removal

34. REMOVE NAVIGATION MODULE BOARD (w/ Navigation System for DVD) Removal

35. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the connectors and detach the clamps.

(b) Detach the 2 claws and remove the sensor.





(c) Remove the 2 passenger airbag bolts.

(d) Remove the 5 bolts and nut.

(e) Detach the 5 claws and remove the instrument panel safety pad.





36. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL STAY

(a) Detach the 5 claws and remove the 5 No. 3 instrument panel stays.
