Removal





DRIVE SHAFT: REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

2. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH Removal

3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

(a) Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal Removal.

4. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

5. INSPECT REAR UPPER NO. 1 CONTROL ARM BALL JOINT RATTLE On-Vehicle Inspection

6. INSPECT REAR UPPER NO. 2 CONTROL ARM BALL JOINT RATTLE On-Vehicle Inspection

7. INSPECT REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM BALL JOINT RATTLE On-Vehicle Inspection

8. INSPECT TOE CONTROL LINK BALL JOINT RATTLE On-Vehicle Inspection

9. DISCONNECT LOAD SENSING VALVE SENSOR BRACKET LH





Remove the bolt and disconnect the sensor bracket.

10. DISCONNECT LOAD SENSING VALVE SENSOR BRACKET RH

11. REMOVE NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR





Remove the 3 nuts and support protector.

12. REMOVE NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR





Remove the 3 nuts and support protector.

13. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE LH





Remove the 2 bolts and rear suspension member brace.

14. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE RH





Remove the 2 bolts and rear suspension member brace.

15. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT LH





Using SST and a hammer, release the staked part of the rear axle shaft nut LH.

SST : 09930-00010

NOTICE:
Release the staked part of the nut completely, otherwise the screw of the drive shaft may be damaged.

(a) While applying the brakes, remove the rear axle shaft nut LH.

16. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT RH

17. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR LH





Remove the 2 bolts and rear speed sensor.

18. REMOVE PAD WEAR INDICATOR WIRE (for RH Side) Removal

19. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR RH

20. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG

21. DISCONNECT REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH Disassembly

22. DISCONNECT REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY RH

23. REMOVE REAR DISC Disassembly

24. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN SPRING Disassembly

25. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN SPRING Disassembly

26. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET LH Disassembly

27. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET RH

50. REMOVE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Using a plastic-faced hammer, separate the drive shaft from the rear axle assembly.

(b) Remove the rear axle carrier.

NOTICE:
* Be careful not to damage the boot.
* Use a wire or an equivalent to keep the rear drive shaft assembly from hanging down.

51. REMOVE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Using SST, remove the rear drive shaft.

* Be careful not to damage the oil seal, inboard joint boot and drive shaft dust cover.
* Be careful not to drop the drive shaft.
