Installation





2UR-GSE LUBRICATION: OIL PUMP: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL SCAVENGING PUMP ASSEMBLY Installation

2. INSTALL NO. 3 OIL PIPE Installation

3. INSTALL NO. 2 OIL PIPE Installation

4. INSTALL NO. 1 OIL PIPE Installation

5. INSTALL INLET WATER PIPE

(a) Apply soapy water to 2 new O-rings and install them to the inlet water pipe.





(b) Install the inlet pipe to the heat exchanger assembly.

6. INSTALL TIMING CHAIN COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove any old packing material remaining on the sealing surfaces before applying seal packing.

(b) Clean and degrease the contact surfaces of the timing chain cover, cylinder head, and cylinder block and confirm that no oil, moisture, or other foreign matter remains on the surfaces.





(c) Install a new oil pump gasket.





(d) Install a new O-ring.





(e) Apply seal packing in a continuous line to the timing chain cover as shown in the illustration.





Seal packing:

Toyota Genuine Seal Packing Black, Three Bond 1207B or equivalent

Apply seal packing as follows:









NOTICE:
* When the contact surfaces are wet, wipe them with an oil-free cloth before applying seal packing.
* Install the chain cover within 3 minutes and tighten the bolts within 10 minutes after applying seal packing.
* Do not add engine oil for at least 2 hours after installing the chain cover.
* Do not start the engine for at least 2 hours after installing the chain cover.

(f) Align the oil pump drive rotor spline and the crankshaft as shown in the illustration. Install the spline and chain cover to the crankshaft.





(g) Temporarily install the timing chain cover with the 30 bolts and nut.





Bolt Length:





NOTICE:
Make sure that there is no oil on the bolt threads.

(h) Tighten the 11 bolts in several steps, in the sequence shown in the illustration.





Torque : 47 Nm (479 kgf-cm, 35 ft-lbf)

(i) Temporarily install the belt tensioner with the standard bolt and hexagon bolt.





(j) Tighten the 21 bolts and nut in several steps, in the sequence shown in the illustration.





HINT
Use a 6 mm socket hexagon wrench to tighten the bolt numbered 22 in the illustration.

Torque : 23 Nm (235 kgf-cm, 17 ft-lbf)

(k) After the installation, if the seal packing has seeped out at the areas labeled A shown in the illustration, wipe it off.

11. INSTALL CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2) Reassembly

12. INSTALL TIMING GEAR CASE OR TIMING CHAIN CASE OIL SEAL Installation

13. INSTALL CRANKSHAFT TIMING GEAR KEY Installation

14. INSTALL CRANKSHAFT PULLEY Installation

15. INSTALL OIL FILTER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Install 2 new gaskets to the oil filter bracket sub-assembly.

(b) Install the oil filter bracket sub-assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.





Torque : 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)

(c) Install the oil filter bracket stay with the 2 bolts.





Torque : 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)

16. INSTALL FRONT WATER BY-PASS JOINT Reassembly

17. INSTALL NO. 3 V-BANK COVER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

18. INSTALL NO. 4 V-BANK COVER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

19. INSTALL IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY Installation

20. INSTALL NO. 2 WATER BY-PASS PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

21. INSTALL WATER INLET HOUSING Installation

22. CONNECT NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS HOSE Installation

23. CONNECT WATER INLET HOSE Installation

24. CONNECT NO. 5 WATER BY-PASS HOSE Installation

25. CONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE Installation

26. INSTALL WATER PUMP PULLEY Installation

27. INSTALL OIL PUMP DRIVE SHAFT PULLEY

(a) Temporarily install the oil pump drive shaft pulley with the 4 bolts.

(b) Using SST, hold the oil pump drive shaft pulley and tighten the 4 bolts.

Torque : 23 Nm (235 kgf-cm, 17 ft-lbf)

28. INSTALL NO. 2 IDLER PULLEY SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

31. CONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

33. INSTALL V-RIBBED BELT Installation

34. INSTALL FUEL PUMP SPACER Installation

35. INSTALL FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1)

37. CONNECT WIRE HARNESS

(a) Connect the ground wire with the bolt and clamp.





Torque : 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)

(b) Connect the ground cable with the bolt.





Torque : 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf)

(c) Connect the 7 clamps and connect the 5 connectors.





(d) Install the 2 ground wires with the 2 bolts.

Torque : 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf)

(e) Connect the 3 clamps and 8 connectors.





(f) Connect the 5 connectors and grommet to the engine room ECU box.





(g) Engage the claw and connect the No. 4 connector holder to the engine room ECU box.





(h) Connect the 3 connectors and connector clamp.
