Removal





2UR-FSE LUBRICATION: OIL PUMP: REMOVAL

HINT
When viewed from the rear of the engine assembly, Bank 1 is on the left side and Bank 2 is on the right side.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTICE:
* w/ Navigation System (for HDD):
After the power switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal:





* When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

(a) Remove the engine Removal.

5. REMOVE WITH MOTOR COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY Removal

6. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal

7. REMOVE NO. 6 COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

8. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH Removal

9. REMOVE NO. 5 COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

10. REMOVE ENGINE WIRE Removal

11. REMOVE INJECTOR DRIVER Removal

12. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER Removal

13. REMOVE PURGE VSV Removal

14. REMOVE HEATER WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY Removal

15. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

17. REMOVE FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER ASSEMBLY Removal

18. REMOVE NO. 3 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

20. REMOVE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1) Removal

21. REMOVE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2) Removal

22. REMOVE WATER INLET HOUSING

(a) Using needle-nose pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the water inlet hose.





(b) Remove the 3 bolts, water inlet housing and gasket.

24. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt and belt tensioner.





25. REMOVE FRONT WATER BY-PASS JOINT Disassembly

26. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and camshaft timing control motor.





(b) Remove the O-ring from the timing chain cover.

27. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and camshaft timing control motor.





(b) Remove the O-ring from the timing chain cover.

28. REMOVE OIL FILTER ELEMENT Replacement

29. REMOVE OIL FILTER BRACKET

(a) Remove the 3 bolts, filter bracket and 2 gaskets.





30. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY

(a) Using SST, loosen the crankshaft pulley set bolt until 2 or 3 threads are engaged.

(b) Using the pulley set bolt and SST, remove the crankshaft pulley.

31. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT TIMING GEAR KEY Replacement

32. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY Removal

33. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the fuel pump spacer.

(b) Remove the 15 bolts in the order shown in the illustration. Then remove the 2 seal washers, cylinder head cover and gasket.





HINT
Make sure the removed parts are returned to the same places they were removed from.

(c) Remove the 4 gaskets and 2 O-rings from the camshaft bearing caps (No. 2, No. 3 and No. 7).





34. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Remove the fuel pump spacer.

(b) Remove the 15 bolts in the order shown in the illustration. Then remove the 2 seal washers, cylinder head cover and gasket.





HINT
Make sure the removed parts are returned to the same places they were removed from.

(c) Remove the 4 gaskets and 2 O-rings from the camshaft bearing caps (No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6).





35. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 plugs and 2 gaskets.





(b) Remove the 30 bolts and nut shown in the illustration.





(c) Remove the timing chain cover by prying between the timing chain cover and cylinder head or cylinder block with a screwdriver as shown in the illustration.





NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the contact surfaces of the cylinder head, cylinder block and chain cover.

HINT
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

(d) Remove the oil pump gasket from the cylinder block.





(e) Remove the O-ring from the oil pan.





36. REMOVE WATER INLET PIPE

(a) Remove the water inlet pipe.





(b) Remove the 2 O-rings from the water inlet pipe.

37. REMOVE FRONT CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL Disassembly
