Torsion Bar Loading

WARNING: Always wear eye protection when servicing a vehicle. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

1. If equipped, remove the luggage compartment lid motor. For additional information, refer to Luggage Compartment Lid Motor Service and Repair.

2. NOTE: The luggage compartment lid tension should be decreased if the luggage compartment lid opens with more force than desired. The luggage compartment lid tension should be increased if the luggage compartment lid opens with less force than desired.

Open and support the luggage compartment lid in the full-open position.

3. WARNING: Securely grasp the luggage compartment lid torsion bar while adjusting. The bar is under tension and could spring out unintentionally if it is not handled correctly. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Move the end of the luggage compartment lid torsion bar to another position.





4. Check the adjustment.

6. Check the adjustment.

8. If equipped with a luggage compartment lid motor, carry out the initialization procedure. For additional information, refer to Luggage Compartment Lid Motor Initialization .
