Instrument Panel Upper Section

Removal and Installation

All vehicles

1. Position the steering column downward.

2. Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to Console - Floor Console - Floor.

3. Position aside the RH and LH door opening weatherstrips.

4. Remove the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels.

5. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel side trim panels.
- Pull the instrument panel side trim panel outward to release the retaining clips.

6. Remove the steering wheel. For additional information, refer to Steering Column.

7. Remove the steering column multifunction switch. For additional information, refer to Steering Column.

8. Remove the LH instrument panel finish panel. For additional information, refer to Instrument Panel Finish Panel - LH Instrument Panel Finish Panel - LH.

9. Remove the RH instrument panel finish panel. For additional information, refer to Instrument Panel Finish Panel - RH Instrument Panel Finish Panel - RH.

10. NOTE: Center instrument panel finish panel with navigation shown, center instrument panel finish panel without navigation similar.

Remove the 5 center instrument panel finish panel screws.





11. Remove the center instrument panel finish panel.
- Pull the center instrument panel finish panel outward to release the retaining clips.

12. Remove the ignition switch bezel.

13. Remove the 4 headlamp switch screws.





14. Remove the headlamp switch.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.

15. Remove the 2 instrument cluster finish panel screws.

16. Remove the instrument cluster finish panel.

17. Remove the 2 Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) screws.

18. Remove the IPC.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.

- Detach the wire harness pin-type retainer.

19. Remove the 3 ignition switch screws.

20. Remove the ignition switch.
- Disconnect the electrical connector(s).

21. Detach the in-vehicle temperature sensor aspirator hose from the instrument panel.
- Depress the 2 in-vehicle temperature sensor aspirator hose retaining tabs.

22. Remove the hood release handle screw and position the handle aside.

23. Open the glove compartment.

24. Lower the glove compartment in the following sequence.

1. Lift upward and remove the 2 glove compartment stops.

2. Fully lower the glove compartment.

25. Remove the 3 glove compartment screws.





26. Remove the RH lower glove compartment screw.

27. Remove the glove compartment assembly.
- Pull the glove compartment assembly outward to release the retaining clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.

28. Remove the 2 glove compartment striker screws.

29. Remove the glove compartment striker.

30. Disconnect the luggage compartment lid release switch.

31. Remove the instrument panel subwoofer and speakers. For additional information, refer to Accessories and Optional Equipment.

Without navigation

32. Remove the 4 Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) screws.





33. Remove the FDIM.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.

34. Remove the 4 Audio Control Module (ACM) screws.

35. Remove the ACM.
- Disconnect the antenna cable and electrical connectors.

With navigation

36. Remove the 4 front FDIM screws.





37. Remove the FDIM.
- Disconnect the electrical and video connectors.

38. Remove the 4 Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM) screws.

39. Remove the FCIM.
- Disconnect the electrical and video connectors.

- Disconnect the antenna cable.

- Detach the wire harness pin-type retainers.

All vehicles

40. Remove the LH and RH floor console duct adapters from the instrument panel.
- Remove the RH floor console duct adapter pin-type retainer.

41. Through the glove compartment opening, remove the 2 passenger air bag-to-cross beam bolts.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).





42. If equipped, remove the light sensor from the instrument panel upper section.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.

43. NOTE: To aid in the installation of the instrument panel upper section, mark the locations of the instrument panel upper section screws.

Remove the 13 instrument panel upper section screws.

- Remove one screw from the LH and RH side of the instrument panel.

- Remove the 5 screws located in the steering column cover area.

- Remove the 2 screws located in the instrument cluster area.

- Remove the 2 screws located in the navigation audio unit display area.

- Remove the 2 screws located in the glove compartment area.

44. NOTICE: To avoid damaging the instrument panel upper section, an assistant is required when carrying out this step.

NOTICE: When removing, make sure that the wire harness and connectors are not caught up on other components or damage to the components may occur.

NOTICE: When installing, verify that the electrical and video connectors are routed correctly or damage to the components may occur.

Remove the instrument panel upper section.
- Disconnect the passenger air bag electrical connectors.

45. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Transfer parts as needed.

- To install, make sure to align the retaining clips to the adjacent retaining clip holes.
