Pinpoint Test B: DTC U2510
Normal Operation
The Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) transceiver communicates with the PATS key. The control functions are contained in the Instrument Cluster (IC). The IC carries out all of the PATS functions such as receiving the identification code from the PATS key and controlling the engine and transmission enable. The IC initiates the key interrogation sequence when the key is turned to the ON or START position.
- DTC U2510 ( CAN - Invalid Data For Vehicle Security) - sets when the IC and Transmission Control Module (TCM) IDs do not match or have not been sent.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- IC calibration (parameters)
- TCM calibration (parameters)
- IC
- TCM
PINPOINT TEST B: DTC U2510
NOTE: When using the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS), the IC and the TCM parameters are reset at the same time.
-------------------------------------------------
B1 RESET THE PARAMETERS IN THE TCM AND THE IC
- Connect the scan tool.
- Carry out the parameter reset procedure. Refer to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset.
- Ignition ON.
- Retrieve the DTCs.
- Is DTC U2510 retrieved?
Yes
VERIFY the TCM calibration is correct for the vehicle by matching the calibration number on On-Line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) with the As-Built data. If correct, INSTALL a new IC. REFER to Instrumentation, Message Center, and Warning Chimes Instrument Cluster (IC). CARRY OUT the parameter reset procedure on both modules. REFER to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset. PROGRAM the PATS keys into the IC. REFER to Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT) Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment Using Diagnostic Equipment. CLEAR the DTCs. CYCLE the ignition. REPEAT the self-test. If DTC U2510 is still present, INSTALL a new TCM. CARRY OUT the parameter reset procedure on both modules, REFER to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is OK. CHECK for any other DTCs. If any other PATS-related DTCs are present, REFER to DTC Charts. Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
