Spare key

Spare keys can be obtained only through a BMW dealer from BMW Parts. There, one of the 6 spare keys is programmed to match the vehicle. This key is not a copy of the lost key but a new key.

A total of no more than 6 spare keys matching the EWS control unit can be manufactured and supplied.

When a new key is inserted in the ignition lock for the first time, there will be a noticeable start delay of 1 to 2 seconds. After this the starting operation must be performed without delays.

Lost keys must be blocked by means of diagnosis.

Caution!

Every key request is documented, so that it is possible to follow up enquiries from insurance companies and authorities.
