System Operation
DESCRIPTION
- A/T self-diagnosis is performed by the A/T control unit in combination with the ECM. The results can be read through the blinking pattern of the OD OFF indicator, the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) or through the OE scan tool "Consult".
- The self-diagnostic results indicated by the MIL are automatically stored in both the ECM and A/T control unit memories.
Always erase DTCs following completed repairs to avoid unnecessary blinking of the MIL.
- The following transmission related self-diagnostic items can be detected and retrieved from within the ECM using self-diagnostic results mode only when the OD OFF indicator lamp does not indicate any malfunctions.
- Improper shifting to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gear position
- Improper torque converter clutch operation.
