DESCRIPTION
When the gear position is "P" (A/T models only) or "N", park/neutral position is "ON".
ECM detects the position because the continuity of the line (the "ON" signal) exists.
ECM receives signals from park position switch via A/T control unit.
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
OVERALL FUNCTION CHECK
Use this procedure to check the overall function of the park/neutral position switch. During this check, a DTC might not be confirmed.
WITH CONSULT
(1) Turn ignition switch "ON".
(2) Perform "PARK/NEUT POSI SW CKT" in "FUNCTION TEST" mode with CONSULT.
OR
WITH CONSULT
(2) Select "P/N POSI SW" in "DATA MONITOR" mode with CONSULT.
(3) Check the "P/N POSI SW" signal under the following conditions.
OR
WITH NO TOOLS
(1) Turn ignition switch "ON".
(2) Check voltage between ECM terminal (22) and body ground under these conditions.
