FRONT SEAT
DRIVER SIDE : Disassembly and Assembly - Seatback
SEAT ASSEMBLY WITH SIDE AIR BAG MODULE
Disassembly
1.Remove the front seat assembly. Removal and Installation.
2.Release the lower seatback rubber band (A) installed on seat frame & adjuster assembly a.If equipped with seat lifter, remove retainer (A) installed on seat cushion frame.
3.Release the lower seatback J-hook channel (A), and then open seatback zipper (B).
4.Roll up seatback trim, and then remove seatback retainer clips (C).
5.Press the button of outboard headrest holder (locked), then remove headrest.
6.Reach up through seatback cover and remove the headrest holders by pinching the hooks together at the bottom as shown, and pulling them upward and then out of the seatback.
CAUTION:
Before installing any headrest holder, check its orientation.
(front/rear and right/left)
7.Remove and discard the two chute rod nuts (A), then route the chute rod (1) through the opening and remove it from the chute (2).

8.If equipped with lifter seat:
a.Remove the side air bag module lower harness clip (black arrow) and harness connector clip (black arrow).
b.Remove the side air bag module side harness clip (black arrow).
9.Route the side air bag module harness (1) through the lower seatback cover opening (A).
10.Remove the side air bag module upper clips (black arrow).
11.Using a suitable tool (A), remove and discard the two side air bag module nuts (B) from the side air bag module (1).
CAUTION:
Do not reuse the side air bag module nuts.
12.Disengage the side air bag module studs from the seatback frame and route the side air bag module harness (1) through the seatback foam pad (2).
13.Slide the side air bag module (3) out from the chute (4) which is sewn into the seatback cover, then remove.
14.Lift the seatback cover and seatback foam pad up together from seat frame and adjuster assembly.
CAUTION:
Pull seatback cover and foam pad up slowly away from seat frame, or the foam pad may get torn.
15.Remove hog rings, and separate the seatback trim and seatback foam pad.
CAUTION:
Before performing separating operation, check the installation position of hog rings.
Assembly
Assembly is in the reverse order of disassembly.
- Check seatback pad and seatback trim for damage. Replace with new parts if necessary.
- Install new hog ring to the specified position as shown.
A: Hog ring
CAUTION:
- If a malfunction was detected by the air bag warning lamp after repair or replacement of the malfunction parts, reset the memory using self-diagnosis or CONSULT.
- After work is completed, check that no system malfunction is detected by air bag warning lamp.
- Always install new side air bag module nuts.
- Always route side air bag module harness in original location.
Replace any deformed or damaged clips with same type and color. Always install clips in the original location in the harness.
- Smooth out all wrinkles during assembly.
- Inspect seatback foam pad, seatback cover and seatback cover chutes. Replace if damaged.
- Replace any deformed or damaged parts.
- Do not reuse hog rings. Ensure any old hog ring pieces are removed from the seat.
- Use only one hog ring in each designated location.
- Ensure hog rings are correctly fastened around both the seatback cover and pad wires.
NOTE:
Use NISSAN standard hog rings and tools to assemble.
