Control Relay (2.0L & 2.0L Turbo)

  1. Control relay is located on right side of center console. Disconnect control relay connector.
  2. Using a 12-volt power source, connect positive lead to control relay terminal No. 10 and negative lead to terminal No. 8. See Fig 1 . Using a voltmeter, check for voltage at terminals No. 4 and 5. Battery voltage should exist. Disconnect negative lead from terminal No. 8. Voltage should no longer exist at terminals No. 4 and 5.
  3. Connect positive lead to control relay terminal No. 9 and negative lead to terminal No. 6. Ensure continuity is present at terminals No. 2 and 3. Disconnect negative lead to terminal No. 6. Continuity should not exist between terminals No. 2 and 3.
  4. Connect positive lead to terminal No. 3 and negative lead to terminal No. 7. If battery voltage does not exist at terminal No. 2, replace control relay. Disconnect negative lead to terminal No. 7. Battery voltage should not be present at terminal No. 2. If battery voltage is present at terminal No. 2, replace control relay.
