P0335

DTC P0335

DTC Detecting Condition and Trouble Area

Wiring Diagram

Refer to P0016 DTC P0016.

System Description

The CKP sensor located on the cylinder block consists of the signal generator (magnetic sensor) and sensor plate (fixed to crankshaft).

The signal generator generates reference signal through slits in the sensor plate which turns together with the crankshaft.

Reference signal

The CKP sensor generates 30 pulses of signals each of which has a different waveform length while the crankshaft makes one full rotation. Refer to Pinout Values and Diagnostic Parameters Inspection of ECM and Its Circuits.

Based on CMP sensor signal and CKP sensor signal, ECM judges which cylinder piston is in the compression stroke.

Also, ECM judge engine speed based on CKP sensor signal.

DTC Confirmation Procedure

NOTE:

If DTCs other than aimed DTC are previously detected in DTC confirmation procedure, be sure to troubleshoot DTC previously detected.

1) Crank engine for 5 sec. (Ignition switch: ST position)

DTC Troubleshooting

1.
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Engine and Emission Control System Check Engine and Emission Control System Check.

2. DTC check

Check DTC.

Is there DTC(s) other than P0335?
YES -
Go to applicable DTC(s).
NO -
Go to Step 3.

3. CKP sensor power supply circuit check

Turn OFF ignition switch and disconnect connector from CKP sensor.
Check for proper terminal connection to CKP sensor connector.
If connections are OK, turn ignition switch to ON position.
Check that CKP sensor power supply circuit (B1) is battery voltage.

Is it good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.

4. CKP sensor signal circuit and ground circuit check

Turn OFF ignition switch and disconnect connectors from ECM.
Check for proper terminal connection to ECM connectors.
If connections are OK, check that CKP sensor signal circuit (B2) and ground circuit (B3) are as follows.
- Wiring harness resistance of each CKP sensor signal circuit and ground circuit is less than 3 ohms.
- Insulation resistance between CKP sensor signal circuit and vehicle body ground is infinity.
- Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between CKP sensor signal circuit terminal and each other terminal at CKP sensor connector.
- Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between CKP sensor ground circuit terminal and each other terminal at CKP Sensor connector.
- Circuit voltage of each CKP sensor signal circuit and ground circuit is 0 - 1 V with ignition switch in ON position.

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 5.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.

5. CKP sensor and sensor plate check

Check CKP sensor and sensor plate.
- CKP sensor: CKP (Crankshaft Position) Sensor Inspection
- Sensor plate: Sensor Plate Inspection

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
NO -
Replace defective parts.
